September 12, 1914 - December 10, 2009

CASTORLAND - A memorial service for Esther B. Moshier, 95, Rt. 812, who died Thursday morning at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, will be at 10:30 AM Monday December 14th at the Croghan Mennonite Church will the Rev’s Chad Atwood , John Martin and Nathan Zehr officiating. Spring burial will be in the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Croghan Mennonite Church parking lot fund PO Box 68 Croghan, NY 13327, or Rosedale Mennonite Missions 9920 Rosedale Milford Center Rd. Irwin, OH 43029-9537.

She was born in the hamlet of Indian River September 12, 1914 to Joseph and Lydia Roggie Zehr. She attended Indian River country school. She married Erwin R. Moshier August 8, 1939 at the Amish Conservative Mennonite Church of Croghan with the Rev. Jacob Gingerich officiating. Mr. Moshier died July 22, 1972. She was employed at Beaverite, retiring in 1981 as supervisor of the table room.

She was a member of the Croghan Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Nimble Fingers Sewing Circle. She enjoyed watching birds, quilting, the beauty of nature and poetry.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Samuel and Susan, Ironia, NJ; Mark and Dawn, James and Karen all of Castorland. She has six daughters and two sons in law, Priscilla and Herbert Gascho, Mary, Lois, and Susanna all of Castorland; Kathleen and Greg Leichty, Louisville, KY; and Carol, Morristown, NY. She also has a brother and his wife Vernon and Esther Zehr, New Bremen; she has 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by five brothers, Menno, Samuel, Alvin, Amos, and Michael; four sisters, Marion Gingerich, Kathryn Swartzentruber, Martha Beller and Lena Zehr and two grandchildren.
