HARRISVILLE, N.Y. — Marjorie Elinor Seymour, 88, of Harrisville, died at her home on Dec. 23 while under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Harrisville United Methodist Church with Rev. Frances Hamstreet officiating. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at the Adirondack Funeral Home in Harrisville. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.

Born July 7, 1921 in Harrisville Lewis LeRoy Bowen and Jennie May Humes Bowen. She was born and raised and lived as an adult raising her own family and died in her family homestead built by her grandfather Aaron Humes, in 1868.

Marjorie graduated from Harrisville High school in 1939. She married Harold Otis Seymour April 28, 1947 in the Harrisville United Methodist Church by Rev. A. E. B. Blunden and Rev. N. James Polney. She was employed as a Postal Clerk at the Harrisville Post Office retiring after 32 years of service.

She was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, it’s choir and it’s Women’s Society group; the Harrisville Senior Citizens Club; and the Alumni Association of the Harrisville Central School.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and counted cross-stitch work. For many years Marjorie made infant newborn bonnets donating them to the Carthage Area Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Harold O. Seymour; a son and daughter-in-law Jay Bowen Seymour and Denise Seymour; a daughter, Jennien Margaret Seymour, all of Harrisville; two grandsons, Justin and Jordon Seymour, Harrisville; several sisters-in-law, Evelyn B. Seymour, Harrisville, and Mary Shampine, Vancouver, Wa.; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Kenneth and Joann Seymour, Harrisville, and Carl and Evelyn J. Seymour, Potsdam; and nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was predeceased by her identical twin sister, Margaret Schmitt, a sister, Emma Bowen, and three brothers, Lewis, Hubert, and Sheldon Bowen.
