LOWVILLE- Funeral services for Irene W. Yousey, 83, Brookside Circle, will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday February 17th at the Croghan Mennonite Church with the Rev’s. Chad Atwood and John Martin officiating. Spring burial will be in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 at the church. Irene was born March 2, 1926 in the Town of Croghan to Jacob and Lena Martin Widrick. She attended Town of Croghan country school and Beaver Falls High School. She married Benjamin Yousey May 23, 1946 at the Amish Mennonite Conservative Church in Croghan with the Rev. Lloyd Boshart officiating. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Climax Manufacturing in Castorland and Beaverite in Beaver Falls. After her marriage, she worked along side her husband in the operation of their farm on Rt 812 just outside of Croghan. They operated the farm from 1946 until retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the Lewis County General Hospital Auxiliary for 37 years. She was a member of the Dorcas Sisters Sewing Circle at the Croghan Mennonite Church. She volunteered at the Beaver River Headstart, Beaver Camp, the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and baking.
Besides her husband of Lowville, she is survived by five daughters and four sons in law, Lena Mae Martin, Fulton; Yvonne and Jim Dunn, Evergreen, CO; Marcia and Fred Moshier, Harrisonburg, VA; Jane and Ned Nafziger, Canton, OH; and Beverly and David Chartrand, Oswego. She also has two brothers, Harold, Ontario Canada; and Earl and Betty, Adams Center. She has two sisters and their husbands, Gladys and Floyd Moshier, Lowville; and Aaron and Loretta Widrick, Martinsburg. She also has two brothers in law, Michael Moser, Beaver Falls; and Simon and Diane Gingerich, Castorland and a sister in law Mabel Yancey, Lowville. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Elmer, Ezra, Bernard, Jacob and Hilary; and five sisters, Ella Lyndaker, Mary Moser, Beatrice Moser, Barbara Moser, Kathryn Lyndaker and Lena Gingerich.
