Jo Ann Swank

July 29, 1937 - June 16, 2010

HARRISVILLE- Jo Ann Swank, 72, Hands Flat Rd, died Wednesday evening at her residence while under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 19th at 1:00 p.m., at the Adirondack Funeral Home, State Street, Harrisville, NY. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.

She was born in Circleville, Kansas on July 29th, 1937 to Joseph and Grace Blanc Wagner. She graduated from Goff High School, Goff, Kansas. She received her nursing degree in Syracuse, NY. She married Robert Swank on February 27th, 1955. She was employed at Community General Hospital in Syracuse for over 30 years, retiring in 2008.

She was a blood donor, loved gardening, cooking, baking and crafts. She was very involved with her children through the PTA and as a room mother.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in- law, Susan and Howard Hooper, Harrisville; four sons, Steven and his wife, Sheryl, Shawnee, KS; Daniel and his companion, Virginia Westmiller, Oviedo, FL; Mark and his companion, Kelly Fisher, Watertown; and Randall and his companion, Laurie Hanson, Watertown. She also has a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Connie Battin, Goff, KS; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
