Dorothy A. Larkin

LOWVILLE, N.Y. — Dorothy A. Larkin, 98, formerly of Croghan and Rome, died Friday afternoon at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility where she resided.

Born April 1, 1912, in Rome, the daughter of Grove and Clara Secor Percival, she attended Rome Free Academy.

She married Thomas J. Larkin on Dec. 26, 1934. He passed away Dec. 1, 1975.

Dorothy was employed by Spargo Wire and then remained home to raise her family. Later in life she returned to work at Hillcrest Adult Home, in retirement she was a foster grandparent and Senior Companion for Central New York DDSO.

She attended many Veteran of Foreign Wars functions with her husband who was a World War I veteran.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy and Martin Mullin, Osceola, and Helen C. DeHart, Castorland; a son and his wife, Thomas J. and JoAnn Larkin, Lee Center; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Chapin officiating.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 19, at the Adirondack Funeral Home, 9719 Main St. Croghan.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Rome, N.Y.
